This site is dedicated to sharing the legacy of storyteller Ray Hicks and the gifts the Hicks family continues to offer the world.
Ray Hicks, known as the patriarch of American traditional storytelling, received world-wide recognition before he passed away in 2003. He was a favorite teller at the National Storytelling Festival and was honored with the prestigious National Heritage Award. His legacy continues.
Ray’s widow, Rosa, and their son Ted live in the family's modest country home in Banner Elk in rural Appalachia.
We hope you will enjoy the photographs and memories of the Hicks family.
